Twenty-eight Sunday in Ordinary Time Mon 16th Oct - St. Gall. abbot and St Margaret Mary Alacoque, virgin Tue 17th Oct - St. Ignatius of Antioch, bishop and martyr Wed 18th Oct - St. Luke, evangelist Mission Sunday: Next Sunday is Mission Sunday. Pope Benedict reminds us that love is the driving force of all missionary activity, which cannot leave God and Christ aside. People are hungry for God, not just bread and freedom. Please help missionaries by prayer, offering of suffering and a generous financial contribution to bring the message of love to the whole world. The universality of the Church will be celebrated next Sunday, especially at the 10.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. Masses. Mass Times: Please note that for the month October there will be no 7.30 a.m. Mass on weekdays or 9.00 a.m. Mass on Sundays. New Statue: The blessing of the new statue of St Joseph, outside the parish houses, takes place after the 11.30 a.m. Mass TODAY. Lectio Divina: The Bible Study group, Lectio Divina meets on Wednesdays at 8.00 p.m. in the Presentation Brothers Residence. New members welcome. Monthly Coffee Morning: Many thanks to all who supported last Sunday’s coffee morning in aid of the work of Fr Robbie McCabe in Turkana, Kenya, which raised €1350. Bring and Buy Sale: in Dunmore House, Upper Glenageary Road, on 20th October 10.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m. in aid of Carmona Services. New Pastoral Centre: The Sandycove and Glasthule Residents Association has welcomed the announcement of the new pastoral centre proposed for St Joseph’s. It is intended that the centre will cater for a wide spectrum of needs, from youth groups to senior citizens and will contribute significantly to the pastoral, cultural and educational activities in the parish. Sandycove and Glasthule Residents Association: next gathering takes place on Thursday 19th October at Presentation College at 8 p.m. We are pleased to have local sculptor Imogem Stuart to address us. All are welcome. Dun Laoghaire Borough Historical Society: Talk “Dublin, changed in our lifetime” by Liam Clarke on Wednesday 18th October in the Kingston Hotel. Please pray for the soul of Jack Draper, Dundela Ave. May he rest in peace. |
