Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time Mon 2nd Oct - The Guardian Angels Tue 3rd Oct - Bl Columba Marmion, monk Wed 4th Oct - St. Francis of Assisi Fri 5th Oct - St. Bruno, priest Sat 6th Oct - Our Lady of the Rosary Day for Life 2006: is being celebrated today Sunday 1st October in parishes throughout Ireland. What is Day for Life 2006 for ? · To celebrate the life and presence of people with disabilities in the Church and in society today. · To defend the lives of those with a disability often threatened before birth by genetic screening and procured abortion, or by being denied necessary medical treatment when ill of old. · To promote a more just and humane society in which all can reach their full potential For further information see the Bishops’ letter at the back of the Church. Mass Times: Please note that for the month October there will be no 7.30 a.m. Mass on weekdays nor 9.00 a.m. Mass on Sundays. Blessing of Pets: The annual Blessing of Pets will take place on today Sunday 1st October during 11.30 a.m. Mass. There will be no 12.30 p.m. Mass. St Joseph’s Young Priests Society: The monthly meeting of the Glasthule Branch will be held in the Parish Centre on Friday next 6th October at 7.00 p.m. New members will be most welcome. Lectio Divina: The Bible Study group, Lectio Divina meets on Wednesdays at 8.00 p.m. in the Presentation Brothers Residence. New members welcome. Life Ascending: A lay movement of the Church for elderly people, meets at 10.45 a.m. on Thursday mornings in the Parish Centre. Please come and join us – you would be very welcome. Apostolic Workers: meet Thursdays at 2.00 p.m. in the Parish Centre to make altar linen for the Missions. If you can do any sewing, you would be very welcome to join us. Monthly Coffee Morning: the next coffee morning will be held on Sunday 8th October, in aid of the work of Fr Robbie McCabe in Turkana, Kenya. Hospice Coffee Morning: Many thanks to all who supported the coffee morning in aid of Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross, which raised €611. |
