| Parish Notes 9th April 2006 |
|
9th Apr - Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion Advocate Collection: The Sunshine Fund of the Society of St Vincent de Paul is holding its annual collection outside all Dublin churches this weekend. Each year the Sunshine Fund provides much needed holidays for over 1800 of Dublin’s less fortunate children. Please be as generous as you can. Thank you. Parish Mission: The Mission is over – we have said good-bye to our ‘Missioner’, Fr Tom Hogan, Redemptorist. · Fr Tom said so many things to remember – I will mention two: the importance of every single person in their own right, and that we should look out for our neighbour, and as a parish community draw closer, thereby drawing closer to God. · I will always remember the beautiful floral “garden with fountain” tribute to the unborn children and to those who died young – an affirmation that these children will never be forgotten, that they are, and always will be, part of the parish community. · A word of appreciation to all who worked behind the scenes first during the ‘Visitation’ week and then during the week of the Mission. (A Parishioner). Stained Glass Restoration Fund: Thank you to all who contributed to the collection last weekend, which raised €1002. Food Collection: ‘Heart to Hand’ is a charity (voluntary and non-denominational) that sends food to the children and aged in Albania and Romania. Please bring a can/cans or non-perishable foods to St Joseph’s Church on Good Friday 14th April, for the food collection (contact no: 0402 37260). Trocaire Lenten Campaign: Please return your Lenten collection boxes as soon as possible. Glasthule 34th Parish Pilgrimage to Lourdes: 30th August 2006. Hotel Gallia and Londres 4 Star, 7 nights full board accommodation € 779 per person (including taxes, insurance and landing fees). For further details contact Cyril Carden 2803397. This tour is operated by Joe Walsh Tours (licence number T.O 052). Limited number of seats. Coffee Morning: Thank you to all who generously supported the Mother’s Day Coffee Morning, which raised € 375 for ‘Make a Wish’ Foundation, granting wishes for seriously ill children. Pakistan Clothing Appeal: The trailer for Pakistan left Presentation College last Saturday. Thank you to all who helped to fill it, and for the donations towards the cost of sending it. Coffee Shop: Tea/coffee is served in the Parish Centre after 10 Mass, Monday - Friday. Come and meet your friends, you would be most welcome. An Invitation: ‘Come and see’ Jesus said. Are you stressed, too busy, no time for yourself ? Come and join us on Tuesdays 7 – 8 pm for Reflective Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament and allow Jesus to refresh you and restore your peace. He is waiting for you to come. A special time to pray in the Parish for the Parish. Reflective Prayer before the Ble1ssed Sacrament: Every Tuesday 7 – 8 pm. Different theme each week. “I regularly attend the Tuesday Reflective Prayer. It is truly wonderful to experience the Lord refresh and restore me ! In my busy week this is a very special time. It is like going away to a quiet place to rest with Jesus. What a blessing and privilege !” (A Parishioner). Sacred Space: is the prayer website that helps over 15,000 people a day to pray, while sitting at their computers. Now that Lent had arrived, why not join this huge, world-wide community of believers in giving praise and thanks to God ? It’s as simple as a few clicks, but can change your life ! www.sacredspace.ie Eucharistic Adoration: We could still do with a few more people from 1.00 – 2.30 pm each day. Perhaps you could fill the gap during Lent ? Please pray for the repose of the soul of Christine Howard, Monkstown Farm. May she rest in peace. |
