Stained Glass Windows Fund |
The Rose Window in St. Joseph's Church Glasthule is over 100 years old.
This beautiful window shines into the church over the organ and choir
loft.
Because of its age, the lead lines which hold the glass pieces
have become fragile and bulging. The gaps between the glass and the
outer layer of weather glazing contain a growth of algae and the soft
stone frame is decaying, requiring repair and stone modelling. The Rose
window will be among the first windows to receive attention. Repair
work should be undertaken in two years time.
Last March an appeal was launched to collect money for the
repairs. The total required is in excess of €500,000. All contributions
are welcome.
