Parish Notes 17th December 2006

Third Sunday of Advent

Penitential Service: Our Penitential Service for Christmas will take place on Monday at 8 p.m. The Penitential Service in Sallynoggin will be Wednesday at 8 p.m. and in Dalkey on Thursday at 8 o’clock.

Carol Service: There will be a Carol Service this evening at 5 o’clock. The adult, youth and children’s choirs will take part. We would like as many as possible parishioners to participate.

St Vincent de Paul Society: Very many thanks to all who contributed to last Sunday’s Annual Collection for the Society of St Vincent de Paul which amounted to €12,500.

Church Cleaning: Your church is kept very clean thanks to the dedicated people who come each week throughout the year. However they would like some help with the special cleaning for Christmas this week on Wednesday at 7.30 p.m. Please come – ‘many hands make light work’.

Christmas Day Lunch: The 20th Annual Gala Lunch and Song Contest for people living on their own will be held in the Blackrock College Rugby Club, Stradbrook, from 10.30 am – 3.00pm on Christmas Day. A cake with candles will be blown out to mark the 20th Annual Lunch. Donations of Spot Prizes will be greatly appreciated. Free transport by Ed Kenny Coaches will leave Glasthule Car Park at 11.20 approx. For further information, telephone: 2804776.

Coffee Morning: A special coffee morning will be held today in the Parish Centre in aid of St Joseph’s School for the Blind, Drumcondra.

Parish Bookshop: A large selection of Advent Calendars are now available, and also Christmas cards and candles.

IHCPT: The Irish Pilgrimage Trust thank everyone who supported their recent sale. Enough was made to bring five people to Lourdes. Any enquiries to: Mary Pat Shaw 087 – 2798885.

Please pray for the repose of the souls of: Des O’Halloran, Dr Pat Corboy and Mary McCann, who died recently. May they rest in peace.
